Project Grantee alum Jasmine hosts the Space to Pla(y)ce Mixer on Saturday, October 14 at KZF Design from noon–3pm.
Mixers are generally geared towards youth in 7-12th grades who are curious and interested in learning about new careers. We invite built environment professionals (and hobbyists) who feel personally invested in the future of our cities, believe in diversity, have a passion for the work they do, and want to inspire the next generation.
What is a career mixer ?
It’s not career day. A career mixer is a fun way for youth to learn about different built environment careers and engage with professionals in an informal way. The built environment can be a very complex and confusing thing to navigate, that’s why we have narrow themes for each mixer to help simplify these things and make them more relevant to young people. Space to Playce focuses on careers involved in turning spaces to places (construction, commercial real estate, finance, etc)
What is “Who They Is” ?
Our methodology and approach, Who "They" Is allows us to make the built environment and related professions relevant to young people. The goal is to help break down barriers by humanizing and demystifying “They.” When we realize that “They” are everyday people who like cake and puppies, “they” becomes human, accessible, and more real.
