Eric Gruenstein is a professor of molecular genetics and neuroscience at UC Medical School and founder of the Green Partnership for Greater Cincinnati: a collaboration between six regional institutions whose goal is to encourage and support efforts that will improve environmental performance. Eric's project, Biochar, taught children and their families how to use biochar, charcoal used as soil amendment, to produce healthy vegetables and to remove greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. His hope was to mitigate the dangers of climate change and to improve nutrition through awareness.
