Sometimes there are so many events going on in the People's Liberty community that it becomes impossible to cram them all eloquently into one Facebook or Instagram post.
This weekend is one of those times.
To make sure you're up to date on all that's going on in the Greater Cincinnati area, here's a nice compilation of events involving current grantees or People's Liberty alumni.
Friday, July 21
Candles + Cocktails | 1805 Elm Street, Cincinnati, OH | 6:30pm–8:30pm | Registration required
Join District 78 and The Green Store for the Candles+ Cocktails event with scents inspired by"muva earth". District 78 will provide all the supplies you need to make your own custom candle. Just come through to enjoy some fun candles making, cocktails and eco friendly goods by The Green Store. With each paid ticket you will get to create your own 6 oz. candle tin and enjoy some cocktails while your candles cure!
Red Balloon and Play Library Game Night | 6200 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH | 5pm–8pm
Join us this Friday starting at 5:00 to celebrate summer; we'll have games for all ages from the Play Library and a special dinner menu. It is BYOB, and the playroom admission is free with the purchase of a kids' meal. There is a suggested game table donation of $5 to help support the Play Library.
What's for dinner? Pulled Pork, Lemongrass Chicken or Falafel sliders (priced a la carte or as a platter), house made sides and pies galore.

Films for Kids in Spanish | Price Hill Library | 10:30am–1pm
The Mini Microcinema presents a screening of short kid-friendly films in Spanish! We will be showing animations from the New York International Children’s Film Festival, appropriate for all ages! Unlock the Block Music Fest | Ritte's Corner (9 E. Southern Avenue, Covington, KY, 41015) | 4pm–10pm
Unlock the Block was created to activate community vibrancy and potential in Northern Kentucky! Latonia, KY (in Covington) was chosen as the site for the music fest because of its potential, engaged community, and rich history. Will you help us unlock the block?
“Unlock the Block” will feature lively music from local bands: DV8, rock cover band; Ben Walz, acoustic folk/rock blend; and The Turkeys, folk-rock and Americana. Music lovers will also enjoy craft beers from Rhinegeist and Wooden Cask Brewing Company, as well as drinks from Second Sight Spirits. Food vendors will be on site to satisfy every music enthusiast appetite, including Chick fil A at Newport Pavilion, Smokin' This and That BBQ,Shiver, Kona Ice, Dan the Corn Man, as well as other vendors.
Families can stop by the Activity Zone where kids can check out Skool Aid, get their picture taken with the cow from Chick-fil-A ,and see a 3D replica of Johnny’s Castle – a Latonia toy store icon that entertained children for years. Children attending the event will receive a free book to help unlock literacy during the summer months. During the day, Unlock the Block attendees can take part in historical tours throughout Latonia narrated by a representative from the Kenton County Public Library, and take advantage of in-store and restaurant specials.
The official after-party is hosted by Legend's Bar and Grill/ Bock's Billiardswith more live music.

Photowalk: West Price Hill | Meeting location at St. William Church, West Price Hill | 2pm–4pm
Join 2017 Haile Fellow Chris Glass with Photocorps and wander the sidewalks and explore West Price Hill. We'll be snapping photos for a printed edition dedicated to the neighborhood. No photographic experience necessary (in fact, your cameraphone will work just fine!). This event is open to all ages, whether you live in West Price Hill or always wanted to explore.
Namast'ay Green Yoga + Sunday Funday | 1805 Elm Street, Cincinnati, OH | 11am–5pm
Join Globe Grantee Joi Sears as she closes out The Green Store with one last Sunday Funday! The day begins with Namast'ay Green Yoga from 11am–12:15pm, led by Alexander Shelton. Feel free to pop in and explore ethically made clothing and recyclable and environmentally friendly bath and beauty products.
