Last week, Cincinnati hosted Philanthropy Forward, an annual gathering of Ohio’s philanthropy professionals. This three-day conference connected civic-minded individuals from Ohio, allowing them to network and learn about other organizations and their best practices. Featured speakers, hands-on experiences and learning tours made this event dynamic and highly educational.
People’s Liberty was the host of one such learning tour. Over the course of the afternoon, we shared our philosophy on new philanthropy. We shared metrics, talked about our neighborhood, shared our grant making process and discussed our emphases on design and design process.
It was great to share our story and discuss ways we are able to accomplish such unconventional philanthropic work. We look forward to sharing more resources and tools with similar organizations as time goes on.
One of the most rewarding parts of hosting the learning tour was hearing our own staff and grantees talk about the work. We invited Mark Mussman and Alyssa McClanahan, two of our current project grantees to reflect on their experience. Hearing the grantees talk about their experiences was encouraging as it showed us that we're already impacting a number of individuals throughout the region.
Having the Philanthropy Ohio group in our office was a great experience. We met so many inspiring people who love the work they do. We learned so much from this group of individuals and of course its always fun hosting a like-minded people in our building.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by PL during your time with Philanthropy Ohio! We enjoyed having you and hope to see you next time you are in Cincinnati.
